The Utah Captive Insurance Division recently partnered with Global Captive Podcasts and the UCIA to create a podcast highlighting Utah as a leading captive domicile, and the value of having a strong association supporting the state domicile. The finished product is available HERE.
The Utah State Legislature passed a bill, effective May, 2025, to reduce the capitalization requirement for association captives to $500,000. (Link to Utah Legislative Process)
Effective May 2024, the Utah State Legislature has passed a bill allowing the Utah Captive Insurance Division to issue traditional homeowners insurance! This legislation opens the door for Homeowners Associations to offer their members homeowners insurance through a captive insurance program, such as an association captive. Effective in 2024, the Utah Captive Insurance Division has procured permission from Governor Cox to allow companies who produce medical cannabis to utilize captive insurance to insure their business operations!

Notice 2016-66 Has Been Vacated by TN Federal District Court Order - Page 16 of the Tennessee Federal District Court (Eastern District of Tennessee) vacates Notice 2016-66 “in its entirety” and orders the IRS “to return all documents and information produced pursuant to the Notice to taxpayers and material advisors.”
