UTAH Captive Insurance News
The Utah State Legislature just passed a bill, effective May, 2025, to reduce the capitalization requirement for association captives to $500,000. (Link to Utah Legislative Process)
Effective May 2024, the Utah State Legislature has passed a bill allowing the Utah Captive Insurance Division to issue traditional homeowners insurance! This legislation opens the door for Homeowners Associations to offer their members homeowners insurance through a captive insurance program, such as an association captive. Effective in 2024, the Utah Captive Insurance Division has procured permission from Governor Cox to allow companies who produce medical cannabis to utilize captive insurance to insure their business operations!
