UTAH Captive Insurance News:

• The Utah State Legislature just passed a bill, effective May, 2025, to reduce the capitalization requirement for association captives to $500,000. (Link to Utah Legislative Process)

• Effective May 2024, the Utah State Legislature has passed a bill allowing the Utah Captive Insurance Division to issue traditional homeowners insurance! This legislation opens the door for Homeowners Associations to offer their members homeowners insurance through a captive insurance program, such as an association captive. • Effective in 2024, the Utah Captive Insurance Division has procured permission from Governor Cox to allow companies who produce medical cannabis to utilize captive insurance to insure their business operations!
